Playground to Podium’ Sports Morning

In May, Key Stage 3 and 4 students from Riverside School, Kings Mill School, St.Annes School and Bridlington School Sports College took part in a fun sports morning at South Hunsley Sports Hall. This event was again part of the ‘Playground to Podium’ initiative, where young people with disabilities may be identified as a talented sports performer, and go on to the County Athlete Assessment Day in Hull on 30th June. The students took part in a circuit of different skill stations where their speed, power, balance, accuracy, hand-eye co-odination and aerobic endurance were measured. Then they all took part in a number of fun activities including Boccia and New Age Kurling and they all made friends from the other schools. Thanks go to Claire Elliott at S. Hunsley, Matt Rhodes, Chris Johnson and Ed Grady from E Riding Sports Development, Nicola Massingham (FDSO) for helping on the day, and also to Amanda Jack from the Competition Team, for organising the medals for each competitor.
