Sixth Bridlington School Sport Partnership
On Tuesday 15th June the Sixth Bridlington School Sport Partnership Annual Awards ceremony was held at Longcroft School and Performing Arts College.
With over 300 people attending the awards were given to pupils within the Bridlington School Sport Partnership for Physical Education, Sport, Leadership and Volunteering, School Team, Extra Curricular clubs and Sports Personality of the Year. The Partnership covers approximately 77 Primary and Secondary Schools across the East Riding. Bridlington SSP is funded through the Youth Sport Trust and is part of the National School Sport Partnership Programme across the UK.
We are driven by the PE & Sport Strategy for Young People (PESSYP) referred to as the 5 Hour Offer. Central Government is now working on the PSA Delivery Agreement 22:
“Deliver a successful Olympic Games and Paralympic Games with a sustainable legacy and get more children and young people taking part in high quality PE and sport’.
This will be measured through the 5 Hour Offer. The success measures are as follows:
By the end of the academic year 2010-11, 80% of 5-16 year olds in every School Sport Partnership (SSP) to take part in three hours a week of PE and sport organised by schools
The special guest for the awards evening was former Olympic Gymnast Craig Heap (Olympic and Commonwealth Games gold medal winner) who gave an inspirational keynote speech and presented the awards to the winners and runners up.
Angel Sanderson, Partnership Development Manager said “This evening is an opportunity to celebrate all of the talent within PE and School Sport across the East Riding. The standard is increasing year on year and the commitment and passion for PE and School Sport has been clearly demonstrated this evening. Congratulations to everyone involved.”
